Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) hits hardest in late summer and early fall, spread by biting midges that breed in stagnant water. Drought makes it worse—warm, shallow pools with exposed mud are midge breeding grounds, and concentrated deer at limited water sources get hammered with bites. Mature bucks are particularly vulnerable because midges are attracted to their blood-filled velvet antlers.
"No Dead Water, No Dead Deer!" — EHD-fense company slogan
The EHD-fense Water Treatment Kit addresses the problem at the biological level with three complementary products:
Each kit treats up to 2,500 gallons—roughly an 18-foot-wide, 1-foot-deep water area
Instead of just treating symptoms, EHD-fense eliminates the breeding conditions. All ingredients are safe for deer, birds, wildlife, and the environment. The system works by improving water quality and supporting organisms that naturally outcompete midges for resources.
This approach works on ponds, water tanks, and any standing water sources—the places where your herd actually congregates during drought.
