Clinton Fish and Game Club operates shooting ranges in Clinton, New York for trap, skeet, sporting clays, 5-stand, rifle, and pistol disciplines. Public shooters can show up any Sunday from 9 am to 12 pm and pay $7 per round of 25 targets.
Every Sunday morning to mid-afternoon. American Trap breaks down into singles, doubles, and handicap categories—they predominantly run singles here. The machine throws targets from ground level inside a trap house. You shoot from five stations, each 16 yards behind the trap house. The trap oscillates left to right within a 54-degree arc, so you never know exactly where the target emerges. Each shooter fires one shot per target unless it was an illegal throw. Five shooters per round equals 25 targets per person.
Trap shooting rules: - Keep quiet except when calling "pull" - Be ready when it's your turn. Load one shell at a time - Never pick up live rounds from the ground during loading - Move to the next post with an empty chamber, gun pointed down - Only one shooter per target, one gun loaded at a time - Pick up spent shells after the full round completes
Every Sunday from 9 am to 1 pm across three skeet fields. $7 per round of 25 targets. The setup simulates bird hunting action with seven shooting positions on a semicircle (21-yard radius) plus an eighth position between stations 1 and 7. Two trap houses—one at each corner of the semicircle—launch targets from different heights.
Skeet shooting rules: - Be ready when it's your turn. Load one or two shells - Never pick up live rounds from the ground if dropped - Keep gun pointed down between stations - Semi-automatics: leave open to display shotgun is not loaded - Over/unders or side-by-sides: leave unhitched, displaying no rounds in barrels - Only one shooter per target with one or two rounds - Unload all live ammo before leaving after your round
Also available on Sundays as part of the regular clay shooting events.
