DJ Powder Coating operates out of Kernersville, NC on Industrial Way Drive—units A, B, C, and D (enter at unit D). They've been doing this for 10 years and handle jobs ranging from industrial metal fabrication to custom automotive, motorcycle, furniture, and recreation equipment.

They offer three main services:

•Media Blasting (Sandblasting) - Removes existing finish, rust, and mill scale to prepare surfaces for powder coat adhesion
•Powder Coating - Applied with top-of-the-line guns in either a 22.5' x 8' x 8' oven or a 14' x 8' x 8' oven
•Sublimation Coating - Specialty coating option for specific applications

They don't cut corners. Here's what happens to your part:

1. Inspection - Check the part before surface prep 2. Media Blasting - Remove old finishes and contaminants 3. Pre-treatment - Steam clean, degrease, rinse, and apply zirconium wash (this prevents flash rust and helps powder adhesion) 4. Masking - High-temperature masking tape and silicon plugs protect areas that shouldn't be coated 5. Powder Coating - Applied in the oven 6. Final Inspection - Quality check after the part comes out

They can handle large objects and production runs. Recent work includes Spartan Manufacturing high-end industrial equipment, railroad switching mechanisms, vending machines, and custom fabrications.

Wide variety of powder coating colors available. From their portfolio:

•Industrial colors: Gloss Black, Matt Black, Gloss White, Fluorescent Green (mining), custom blue, bronze finishes

•Automotive/wheels: Satin Black, Mirror Silver with Clear, Hot Candy Blue, Gun Metal, Pearl Gold, Red Starlight, Bengal Silver, Cardinal Red, Gunmetal Steel Pearlescent

•Specialty finishes: They also offer Powder Effects© — a distressed, aged patina look applied with powder coating instead of traditional paint. This delivers controlled, realistic weathering without the degradation of actual rust.

Powder coating is cheaper and more durable than spray paint. It doesn't chip or fade, resists UV better, and is environmentally safer. It also protects against rust and erosion. The catch: it's extremely durable but not scratch-proof.

Critical prep issues that affect results: - Tubes/pipes with end caps and no weep hole will trap gases during curing and damage the finish - Parts not welded solid trap moisture, causing rust later - Overlapping metals that aren't seal-welded will rust - Porous castings or hidden grease can cause out-gassing and bubbling (they take precautions but can't guarantee this won't happen) - Use JB Weld High Temp as filler, not Bondo (Bondo out-gases)
