Own Cleveland Police Foundation?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
The Cleveland Police Foundation administers Cleveland's public safety gun buyback initiative—a community program designed to remove unwanted operable firearms from neighborhoods before they can be misused or cause accidental injury.
Residents bring operable firearms to a designated buyback event and exchange them for gift cards purchased from or donated by local businesses. The process is safe, secure, and anonymous. No questions asked, no registration required.
After collection, the Cleveland Division of Police inspects and tags each firearm, then prepares them for disposal. Rather than destroying them, the guns are transported to ArcelorMittal's Cleveland mill, where they're melted down and recycled into new steel for appliances, vehicles, and household products.
To date, the program has removed over 3,300 operable firearms from Cleveland's neighborhoods.
The Cleveland Police Foundation raises money through:
ArcelorMittal, one of the world's leading steel manufacturers, has been the program's anchor supporter since inception—providing grant funding for gift card purchases and handling firearms recycling at their Cleveland facility.
Other key partners include Dave's Markets, TrueNorth Shell, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Gladiators and Monsters, and individual donors.
The CPF welcomes:
All contributions are tax-deductible. The Cleveland Police Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit with both the IRS and State of Ohio.
