Full description and what we offer
Cascade Precision Inc. (CPI) started as McAllister Machining in 1978 and rebranded in 1996. The operation stayed small until Jake Cansler bought it in 2010 and modernized the entire shop—replacing 1980s-era equipment with state-of-the-art CNC technology, 4- and 5-axis machines, and robotics.
Today they run a 12,000-square-foot manufacturing facility plus 4,000 square feet of dedicated assembly space in Boring, Oregon, about 30 miles southeast of Portland.
CPI handles custom parts and full assemblies for:
They work with titanium, advanced composites, aluminum, and standard steels. No minimum or maximum order quantities—they'll machine a single prototype or run thousands of identical parts.
| Machine | Type | Key Specs |
|---|---|---|
| DMU 50 | 5-axis mill | Swiveling rotary table, automated tool magazine |
| CMX 1100V | 3-axis vertical mill | Large envelope, high-speed tool changes |
| NLX 2500SY/700 | Multi-axis turn center | Y-axis, sub-spindle, live tooling |
| NHX 4000 DCG | Horizontal mill | Dual-drive, high-torque spindle |
| SL-200SMC | Turning center | Live tooling, sub-spindle, compact |
Turning capabilities: Up to 22" diameter, 4 feet length Milling capabilities: Up to 40" x 20" x 20" Tolerance range: Down to .0001" when required
Standard lead time: 4 to 6 weeks for most projects. Faster turnaround available on request.
CPI holds ISO 9001 and AS9100D certifications. Their in-house Quality Assurance department runs:
The QA area is temperature-controlled and isolated from shop floor noise and vibration. All measurement tools are on regular calibration cycles.
They provide design consultation and manufacturability analysis using SolidWorks and Esprit Edge CAM software. If you have a concept, they'll work with you to select materials, design efficient manufacturing processes, and avoid unnecessary cost.
They source materials or work with customer-supplied stock. Post-process work (heat treating, anodizing, powder coating, magnetic particle inspection, painting) is handled through trusted partners.
"We need a supplier who will grow with us and jump through the same hoops we're asked to." — Original customer request that shaped CPI's culture (1997)
CPI positions itself as a long-term manufacturing partner, not a transactional shop. They're ITAR compliant and built to handle the quality and security requirements of aerospace and defense contractors.
