Arrowhead Country Club traces its roots to 1953, when Art Dahl—president of Rapid City National Bank—recognized that the city needed more than its single 9-hole course could offer. What started as a vision for a progressive city became a regional institution. In July 1953, Dahl and community leaders formed Valley Investment Incorporated, attracting 314 charter investors who each paid $650. By June 1955, the golf course opened for play.
The club's first president, E.C. "Ping" Murray, recalled: "We had no liquor license, no water and no air conditioning. What a way to start a Country Club!"
Arrowhead operates as a full-service country club across 200+ acres in the Black Hills:
Members enjoy access to golf simulators, flexible event spaces, and a social calendar anchored by signature tournaments like the Prairie States-Arrowhead Pro-Am.
Arrowhead describes itself as a vibrant community for active couples, individuals, and families. The setting—minutes from downtown Rapid City in a secluded residential neighborhood—positions it as a retreat rather than a downtown facility.
