Lane Silencers and Guns started in 2007 when Cory Johnston (former head of engineering at Diamond Mowers) and Brady McDonnell decided to build suppressors full time. Both are hunters and shooters who wanted to make a mark in the firearms industry by creating products that actually surpass current standards.

Firearms generate 145–170dB depending on caliber. The ATF's hearing safety threshold is 140dB for permanent damage. Most large-caliber Lane suppressors reduce that to 128–136dB; subsonic loads drop to 110dB (quieter than a handclap).
Four major benefits shooters report:
1. Hearing protection. No longer debatable—suppressors are hearing safety devices. 2. Recoil reduction. Magnum shooters say their rifle now feels like a .223 or .243. Customers end up shooting MORE because it's fun again. 3. Accuracy gains. Gasses are contained better, and shooters aren't flinching from anticipating the blast. 4. Hunting advantage. Suppressed rifles don't broadcast direction. Game animals don't know where the shot came from and often stand still or run toward the shooter.
Suppressors are NFA items requiring ATF approval. Lane handles Form 4 paperwork in 20–30 minutes. If you're a South Dakota resident, they'll build you a gun trust, do fingerprints and photos, and mail forms same-day or next-day at no extra charge. Out-of-state buyers can purchase and transfer through any Class III dealer.
No—owning a suppressor does NOT waive any of your rights. That rumor stems from misreading ATF language about FFL holders (dealers), not private owners.
