Lane Silencers and Guns started in 2007 when Cory Johnston (former head of engineering at Diamond Mowers) and Brady McDonnell decided to build suppressors full time. Both are hunters and shooters who wanted to make a mark in the firearms industry by creating products that actually surpass current standards.

Firearms generate 145–170dB depending on caliber. The ATF's hearing safety threshold is 140dB for permanent damage. Most large-caliber Lane suppressors reduce that to 128–136dB; subsonic loads drop to 110dB (quieter than a handclap).
