SDTA specializes in the Plan B tapered mount design—a system superior to standard direct thread because the taper sits in front of external threads. This prevents carbon buildup, creates a tight seal, and allows hand installation/removal without tools. The degree angle of the front taper design ensures excellent mating between mount and suppressor.
Boosters for Pistols SDTA offers suppressor boosters (Nielsen Devices) that allow pistols to cycle properly when suppressed. The spring-loaded piston isolates the suppressor weight from barrel rearward motion, preventing the gun from becoming a single-shot weapon.
Material Options - Titanium: Lightweight, durable. Works well with muzzle brakes to extend blast baffle life. - 17-4 Stainless Steel: Proven durability and corrosion resistance. - Steel and Inconel: Best for sustained fire and competition use.
Muzzle Device Selection - Brakes: Maximum recoil reduction. Act as sacrificial blast baffles (extends suppressor life 2-3x on titanium/aluminum cans). - Compensators: Best for rapid fire and sustained shooting. Redirect initial blast to reduce erosion. - Flash Hiders: Minimize muzzle signature in low-light conditions. Minimal recoil reduction.
SDTA maintains inventory across all major suppressor thread standards:
| Thread Size | Common Calibers |
|---|---|
| 1/2x28 | .223, 5.56, 9mm, 22LR |
| 5/8x24 | .308, 300WM, 6.5CM, 6.5PRC |
| 9/16x24 | .40S&W, 10mm, 6.5mm |
| 37/64x28 | .45ACP |
| HUB (1.375x24) | Multi-caliber |
| D-Size (1-7/16x20) | Multi-caliber |
Threading recommendation: Install muzzle devices at 25–30 ft-lbs torque. Blue Loctite recommended; red available if needed.
Cleaning intervals depend on ammunition type: - High-pressure rifle rounds: Every few thousand rounds - Rimfire ammunition: Every few hundred rounds (higher fouling)
Weight check method: If your suppressor has accumulated 1+ ounce of carbon buildup, it's time to clean.
