Full description and what we offer

Four Bridges Outfitters operates as a consignment shop for outdoor gear in downtown Chattanooga. Founded by an outdoor-focused family, the shop exists to solve two problems: give people an affordable way to get outside, and give quality gear a second life instead of ending up in a landfill.

Inventory changes daily. Customers often stop by multiple times a week because new items hit the floor constantly. That's the whole appeal—you're hunting, and you never know what you'll find.

  • Camping & Climbing Hard Goods (always taking these)
  • Tents, hammocks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads
  • Backpacks, camp stoves, cookware, mess kits
  • Trekking poles, climbing shoes, chalk bags
  • Kayak and canoe paddles, PFDs, fly fishing gear
  • Bike components and cleats
  • Guide books and maps in good shape
  • Seasonal Items (subject to rotation)
  • Winter gear (skis, snowboards, ski boots, snowshoes, ski jackets/pants, beanies, gloves, scarves) — stopped taking January 14th
  • Rain shells and lightweight jackets always accepted
  • Summer items paused until late February (swimwear, tank tops, sun dresses, lightweight skirts, shorts, casual sandals)

Bikes & Boats - Limited bike space available (call ahead to reserve) - No boats accepted in 2025; accepting again Spring 2026

NOT accepting on consignment: - Used climbing hard goods (harnesses, ropes, quickdraws, trad gear—anything load-bearing) - Women's pants or leggings (exception: ski/snowboard pants through January 14th)

You bring gear, they sell it, you get paid when it sells. No outright purchases—everything is consignment only. Payment available as cash or store credit.

The Process: 1. Schedule an appointment (4 appointments bookable per day) 2. Bring clean, pre-washed items (limit 20 or fewer) 3. Drop off takes 15 minutes or less 4. Items you can't take are returned before you leave (they don't store rejected items) 5. Check your account online or call for payouts

  • Pre-Cleaning Requirements (avoid cleaning fees):
  • Clothes and sleeping bags must be prewashed
  • Shoes free of dried dirt/mud
  • Packs with empty pockets, no dust/dirt/mold
  • Tents mold-free and clean inside
  • Technical gear (rain jackets, down jackets, synthetic coats) — follow washing instructions to preserve DWR coating. Call the shop for guidance or let them wash for a small fee using Techwash and downwash.
  • Address: 315 N Market St, Chattanooga, TN 37405

Four Bridges is staffed by actual outdoor people—climbers, backpackers, bikers, paddlers, cavers, and fly fishers. The team includes:

  • Jennie (founder) — runs the operation and loves watching customers' faces light up when they talk about their recent adventures
  • Daniel (manager) — hiker, backpacker, climber. Joined the team in April 2023, customer since 2014
  • Luke — gravel and mountain bike rider, fly fisherman. Worked at Outdoor Experience in Cookeville and was a bike mechanic for the Chattanooga bike share
  • Taylor — climber, biker, paddler, caver. Photographer and marketing background
  • Amy — UTC student studying Mechatronics Engineering. Backpacker, climber, fly fisherman
  • Yolaila — climber and hiking enthusiast. Runs the climbing corner of the shop
  • Emmi — UTC student majoring in psychology. Boulderer and trail runner
  • Ludo — vandweller-turned-Chattanooga resident from New Orleans. Climber and roller skater
  • Maybellene — shop dog. Likes treats, good scratches, and rock hunting at the creek
  • For Buyers: You get quality outdoor gear at 40-60% below retail. No need to buy new when used gear works just fine.
  • For Sellers: You clear space, make money, and know your gear is going to someone who'll actually use it.
  • For the Community: Creates a sustainable ecosystem where gear stays in circulation and more people can afford to get outside.
