Full description and what we offer
David grew up chasing wild game through Tennessee backwoods before touring the country as a guitarist. When he settled in Northern Michigan, he realized the gap in the market: plenty of hunters, few quality taxidermists. Instead of complaining, he got trained—attending the Northwood Institute of Taxidermy in Friedens, Pennsylvania, where he studied under Joel Zimmerman, an industry legend.
Satori Taxidermy handles all varieties of wild game:
Services include professional, commercial, and custom mounts. Lead times vary by animal size and mount style—the shop sources materials from industry-leading suppliers to ensure quality, so pricing and turnaround are custom-quoted.
Shipping Available — Not local to Traverse City? Satori ships mounts nationwide. Contact them with your location and animal details.
How you handle your animal before delivery impacts the final result. The shop provides clear guidance:
Fish: Wring out a wet towel, wrap completely, seal in a plastic bag, keep cool or freeze if needed.
Birds/Small Game: Place intact in a plastic bag with head under wing or over back, remove air, seal, and freeze.
Big Game: Protect the cape—don't cut too high on the brisket or slit the throat. Notify your processor that you're planning taxidermy.
The goal at Satori Taxidermy is simple: Create memories of your hunt that will last forever.
