Full description and what we offer
Texas Handgun Association (TxHGA) started in 1997 as the Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor Association—formed just a year after Texas passed its concealed handgun law. What began as a network of DPS-certified instructors has grown into a full membership organization with over 1,500 active members representing shooters and firearm advocates across the state.
In 2019, the association rebranded to reflect Texas law's evolution, now encompassing both concealed and open carry.
TxHGA is affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and holds membership in the NRA Business Alliance
Their corporate member network includes LTC training providers, firearms dealers, legal defense services, and ammunition suppliers across Texas:
TxHGA focuses on four core objectives:
1. Enhance and protect the Texas License to Carry law 2. Advocate for members' rights and standards to public, media, and lawmakers 3. Promote responsible firearm safety and ownership 4. Maintain superior standards in instruction and training
Membership is open to anyone legally eligible to own a handgun in the U.S.
