Full description and what we offer
Founded in 1974 by Gene Campbell, Oyster Bayou Hunting Club has built its reputation on one principle: the hunt comes first. Unlike operations that prioritize luxury lodging, OBHC focuses on what matters—results in the field.
"We guide from hand-built, heated pit blinds outfitted with bilge pumps and dry access—so you won't need to wear waders or sit on a stool."
All hunts run from private property pit blinds accessed by boat or UTV. You'll be dropped at your blind by experienced guides with trained retrievers handling every detail. Some locations use large decoy spreads (up to 1,000), while others hunt less-pressured areas with smaller spreads picked up daily.
The club leases approximately 8,000 acres with 1,500 acres of designated rest areas never hunted. They manage 12 hunting locations—about half in marsh, half in naturally vegetated fallow fields. The property is surrounded on all sides by local wildlife refuge, which is key to their success.
The team spans generations: - Founding generation: Gene Campbell (founder), Bob Campbell, Tim Wolfford, Jimmy Trahan, Scott Parker - Second generation: Chris Campbell, Brad McBride, Blake McBride (each guiding 25+ years) - Current roster: Drew Wood, Angel Shmodel, Jose Rodriguez, Ralph Perez, Kole Parker, Kade Parker, Matt Parker, Addison Parker, Marc Witt
Combined experience: 300+ years
