Hunting Creek Garden Club

Hunting Creek Garden Club is a horticultural organization in Alexandria, Virginia, not a shooting range or gun club. This is a community garden club dedicated to gardening, floral design, and environmental conservation.

Hunting Creek Garden Club was established in 1943 as an independent organization, evolving from a junior membership program of The Garden Club of Alexandria. For over 76 years, the club has focused on promoting amateur gardening, civic planning, and native plant conservation throughout the Alexandria community.

The club's original three-part mission remains central to its work: - Stimulate interest in civic planning and community beautification - Promote amateur gardening and horticultural education - Protect native trees, shrubs, wildflowers, and birds in Virginia's natural environment

Hunting Creek Garden Club members actively participate in local conservation and restoration projects, including work with Huntley Meadows Park, Mason Neck State Park, the Lee-Fendall House, and the Pope-Leighey House. The club has also supported environmental education through scholarships for students pursuing careers in horticulture, landscape architecture, and environmental conservation.

The club hosts the annual Greens Workshop each December, a signature fundraiser featuring handcrafted boxwood decorations. Members also participate in flower arranging competitions and exhibitions through the Garden Club of Virginia (GCV), and the club has hosted major regional flower shows.

Hunting Creek Garden Club is affiliated with the Garden Club of Virginia and welcomes members interested in gardening, floral design, and environmental stewardship in the Alexandria area.
