NAVHDA Chesapeake is the regional chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, a nonprofit focused on developing reliable hunting dogs and conserving game through proper dog training.
The Chapter runs monthly training sessions from March through September where members work together to train their hunting dogs. You don't need to be an expert—the group includes several experienced dog trainers who actively help newer members learn proper techniques.
Two test seasons per year (spring and fall) offer three certification levels:
Junior handlers get special support: NAVHDA International covers 75% of test fees, and the Chesapeake Chapter covers the remaining 25%.
Most sessions and tests are held at 9609 Kings Highway, Montross, VA 22520. The facility has simultaneous training venues for field and water work, and is fully handicap accessible.
