Boone's Solace Taxidermy

Boone's Solace Taxidermy is a specialized preparation studio operating in Woodinville, WA (30 minutes north of Seattle), run by Maggie D. Fedorov. The studio opened officially in Summer 2025 and focuses on museum-quality taxidermy, pet memorials, and scientific specimen preparation.

This isn't trophy taxidermy. Maggie creates work rooted in scientific and anatomical knowledge guided by reverence for the specimens. Her practice centers on:

Maggie brings multiple specialties to her craft:

• •Descended from Daniel Boone, the early American pioneer and mountain man—closeness with nature runs generationally deep
• •Former Wildlife Control professional — practical knowledge of animal handling and biology
• •Former Funeral Services professional — this directly informs her business model: every specimen that comes through the door is treated as the most important one they've ever worked on
• •Studied under Matt Klope, retired Federal Wildlife Biologist and taxidermist at Whidbey Island Taxidermy, where she became proficient in waterfowl and upland game
• •Spring 2025 training at Prey Taxidermy in Los Angeles, CA in small and exotic bird preparation
• •Permit-based volunteer work preparing protected species through Birds Connect Seattle and Whidbey Island Audubon Society

Maggie's taxidermy practice is elegy and inquiry—an invitation to witness the entanglement between human experience and the natural world. Her work addresses:

"What remains? What might still be protected?"

She centers birds in her symbolic lexicon as beacons of hope, ambassadors of the future, and symbols of ancient wisdom. Her pieces explore themes of:

All specimens are ethically sourced—roadkill, hunted specimens, and salvaged materials. This approach draws attention to industrial animal byproduct and road waste while questioning what we consider "ethical" in how we treat the earth.

Intake appointments take approximately 30 minutes. Complete the relevant Service Agreement first—intakes are scheduled in the order agreements are received.

Maggie's work resists spectacle in favor of intimacy. Installations are tender in scale and detail, designed to slow viewers down and create space for contemplation and care. Her role is not to speak for nature, but to co-create with it—bearing witness, asking difficult questions, and modeling spaces where grief and beauty can coexist.
