Full description and what we offer
Brux Barrels LLC is a machine tool company in Lodi, Wisconsin that specializes in custom cut-rifled rifle barrels. Owner Norman Brux has been making barrels since 2006, building on decades of machine tooling experience from his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. Co-owner Ken Clemens brought 30 years of manufacturing experience and joined Brux after working alongside barrel maker Ken Liebetrau at a previous company.
What sets Brux apart: the owners and machinists are competitive shooters themselves. They use their own products in matches and understand exactly what a precision barrel needs to deliver.
Brux barrels have a track record in match shooting:
Official world record: 0.336" five-shot group at 600 yards (6mm Dasher) by Rodney Wagner
Top competition shooters nationwide—F-Class competitors, PRS shooters, and hunters—choose Brux barrels because they perform consistently.
Every Brux barrel goes through 8 steps of precision fabrication:
Materials: 4150 chromemoly or 416R stainless steel, double stress-relieved, starting at 1-9/32" diameter and 20-24 feet long. Cut to your custom specifications.
Equipment in use: - Two twin spindle riflers - Two six spindle reamers - Two single spindle gun drills - Barnes gun drill for boring - Pratt & Whitney reamer for finishing - Monarch vintage lathe for exterior contouring
The steps: 1. Material selection and cutting 2. Barrel contouring on lathe 3. Drilling at 3600 rpm with oil-through coolant (hole drilled .005" under land diameter) 4. Final exterior contouring to exact specifications 5. Reaming with Pratt & Whitney reamer to proper land diameter 6. Hand lapping to remove tool marks (every barrel receives this) 7. Cut rifling using caliber-specific rifling heads 8. Final hand lapping and bore scope inspection
If any barrel shows the slightest deviation in surface finish or tolerance, it's discarded. This isn't mass production—Brux uses meticulous hand processes and multi-point inspections that achieve tolerances impossible with standard manufacturing.
Brux offers multiple contour profiles:
Sporter Contours: Featherweight through #6 Heavy Bull Sporter (est. 0.56 to 10 lbs)
Varmint & Match Contours: Light Target (#7) through Heavy Varmint (#17), plus Hunter (#19) and Straight Blank (#11)
Palma Contours: Light (#16), Standard (#15), and Heavy (#14) for Palma competition
Special Options: Rem Varmint contour and fluting available
Barrels are customizable by length (with minimums: #4 and smaller must be 24"-27"), contour, caliber, and finish.

The owners understood the formula: start with the best steel available, use the best tools in the industry, and apply skill and experience. Since barrel-quality steel comes from only two main suppliers, skill and experience are what separate a top barrel maker. Norman Brux rebuilt and re-engineered vintage German rifle-making machinery (purchased by his father Klaus) to achieve the tight tolerances required for efficient, flexible barrel fabrication. That dedication to craft—combined with owners who actually shoot competitively—explains why Brux barrels show up at the top of match results year after year.
