Schillings Gun Dogs operates out of Vincent (110 acres with native grass fields, grassy pines, and 7.5 acres of tech ponds built in 2023) and Chelsea (47-acre pond, 50 acres of timber, 1800 sq ft covered kennels). The variety of terrain means they can replicate actual hunting scenarios—everything from complex water work to upland field searches.

Retriever Programs - Force fetch, marking, honoring other dogs, remote sending, hand signals for blind retrieves, blind search (NAVHDA standards) - AKC hunt test and trial training through Master National level - Training adapts to your specific hunting scenarios

Upland Pointer & Flush Dogs - Whoa breaking, force fetch, quartering, backing, repositioning, group field search - Trained steady to wing, shot, and fall - Half-day guided hunts included post-training to teach you how to handle your dog in the field - Live pigeons and quail used during training

Obedience Training - On/off lead heel work, place training, socialization, UTV awareness, honoring other dogs - Manners (barking, jumping, threshold crossing), water introduction, shot conditioning, introduction to live birds - Typically 2 months to complete; includes 2-3 clinics where the handler gets trained too

  • Boarding: 2-day minimum, 5x10 outdoor covered kennels with private boxes, daily walks/work sessions, access to wooded areas, trails, and a lake
  • 1-on-1 Clinics: 1 hour to half-day sessions at Chelsea or Vincent (by appointment)
  • Tech Pond Access: Open to the public for retriever training ($30 per dog)
  • Self-Guided Hunts: For upland/flush dog graduates (half-day, two-shooter maximum)
  • Tune-Ups: For any dog that's completed one of their programs (2-week minimum)

They customize every program. The approach is: assessment of where you are and where you need to go, showing drills, teaching drills to the handler. Dogs are fed Inukshuk 30/25 mixed with Puppy Pro Plan unless you provide your own food. Boarding reservations should be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Pick-up and drop-off available for an additional fee.
