Full description and what we offer
Alaska Waterfowl Association began in the 1970s when a group of local hunters and sportsmen gathered for waterfowl hunting. What started as a casual pursuit evolved into something bigger—founders realized the future of waterfowling, wetlands, and the sport itself needed active protection. AWA formed to make that happen.
Founded in 1975, AWA has spent nearly 50 years conserving Alaska's waterfowl, wetlands, and outdoor heritage.
AWA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on waterfowlers and wetland conservationists. The organization:
AWA operates on five core principles: Fellowship, Leadership, Mentorship, Dedication, and Education. They're dedicated to preserving waterfowling heritage while protecting Alaska's wetlands and ensuring hunting rights continue for future generations.
Their youth programs are a major focus—AWA knows that getting young Alaskans involved in waterfowling now secures the sport's future.
