Full description and what we offer

Alpine Creek Lodge operates a remote hunting facility on the Denali Highway in interior Alaska, accessible only by air or a long drive. Bob and Claude, certified waterfowl guides, lead all expeditions into terrain few outsiders experience.

They focus heavily on ptarmigan—willow, white-tailed, and rock varieties. Hunts run September 25 through February 15.

  • •Fall hunts: Walk or ATV
  • •Winter hunts: Snowmachine to reach birds in deep snow habitat
  • •Minimum: 3 days
  • •Rate: $1,200/day hunting, $600/day travel
  • •Included: Anchorage or Fairbanks pickup/dropoff, all meals, lodging, vehicle use
  • •Bird dogs welcome

Population management is built into every hunt. If ptarmigan numbers are low, they cancel or reduce daily take to protect the breeding population.

Three distinct trapping packages run November 10–February 15. All use sustainable practices with year-round population monitoring.

The Collector ($1,250/day trapping, 7-day minimum) Hunt for one of every species: wolf, wolverine, lynx, fox, marten, ermine, otter, beaver, muskrat, Arctic fox. Includes hide skinning and prep. Snow machine with guide.

The Observer ($800/day trapping, 7-day minimum) Learn trapping methods and take photos. No license required. Option to purchase animals harvested by guides.

Arctic Fox Add-On Specialized trips to the North Slope for Arctic fox, with additional lodging on the Arctic coast.

Winter hunts for lynx, fox, coyotes, and wolves. Run dusk to dawn with hot coffee and soup at base camp. $1,200/day hunting, $600/day travel. Minimum 10 days.

No guide required. 50–60% success rate, higher if you hunt daily. $750/day includes lodge, meals, ATV rental. Pickup available from Anchorage or Fairbanks for $600 each way.

All guided hunts are 1×1 (one guide, one hunter) or 1×2 with a companion. Ask about group discounts.
