Full description and what we offer
Grizzly Expeditions operates out of Willow, running fully guided big game hunts in some of North America's most remote areas. Owner and registered guide Jim Tilton arrived in Alaska in 1981 at 18 and started guiding in 2017. The team brings over 40 years of combined moose and grizzly hunting experience.
Rifle and bow hunts both available:
| Rifle | Bow |
|---|---|
| 300 Win Mag minimum (185 grain) or larger | Minimum 65 lb draw weight |
| Shots 60-100 yards typical, no shots over 200 yards | Close-range stalking for maximum kinetic energy |
| Must be comfortable with your rifle and confident in shot placement | Heaviest arrow you can shoot |
"We will take you deep into the Alaska wilderness via small plane and put you in some of the best hunting areas anywhere in North America."
Hunters stay in strategically placed spike camps on remote lakes in good moose country—accessible only by float plane. Camps consist of 8-man Cabela's outfitter tents with cots, heaters, and bear fences. All food and snacks provided. Clients get their own tent; guide and assistant guide share another.
The operation also maintains a lodge as a base, but the remote spike camps put you where the animals are.
Personal communication throughout the planning process—phone and email coordination to ensure you're equipped and ready before departure.
Alaska big game hunts require months of planning, careful weather and location considerations, quality gear selection, and experienced guides. Grizzly Expeditions handles the entire process from booking through departure—they're with you the whole way.
