Own Ovis Outfitters?
01 // DETAILS
Full description and what we offer
Ovis Outfitters operates its own fleet of meticulously maintained bush planes—a huge advantage in Alaska hunting. Most outfitters depend on air taxis and external services. Not here. They have two pilots standing by at all times and can move you to better hunting grounds, resupply camp, or extract you from the field on their schedule, not someone else's.
The fleet includes: - N3148M: Modified PA-12 with 180 hp, hauls up to 2 passengers - N20752: 1976 Cessna 185 with IO-550, carries up to 3 passengers - N10293: PA-18 Super Cub ("Red Dragon") with 180 hp and wide-body fuselage - N4441Z: 1969 PA-18 with 160 hp, single-passenger exploration aircraft
Matt Thoft (Registered Guide #1287) grew up hunting elk with a bow in Montana before flying north to Alaska at 17. He's a commercial, instrument-rated pilot and certificated airplane mechanic—he does most of the flying himself. Emily Thoft (Registered Guide #1345) holds a degree in Wildlife Biology and is one of Alaska's few female registered guides, also a licensed pilot.
"It's not a job and it shows." That's how they describe turning their lifelong passion into a business.
Ovis runs hunts on ethical, fair-chase principles. They handle everything: logistics, camp operations, meat and trophy packing for travel home. No surprises, no hassles. Clients receive references and personal testimonies upon request.
