Full description and what we offer
Tundra Tanning & Taxidermy has been turning hunting trophies into museum-quality mounts since 2002. They're not a big corporate operation—it's family-owned and operated out of Wasilla, with a reputation that extends well beyond Alaska. Hunters nationwide specifically request their work, especially their bear rugs.
Most taxidermy shops send hides out to be tanned elsewhere, which adds months to the turnaround. Tundra does their tanning in-house, which cuts the typical wait time in half—about 6 months instead of a year. More importantly, your hide never leaves their shop. The same people handling your trophy from day one are the ones finishing it.
"Had a Caribou in velvet Euro mounted in 2021. 4 years later and the velvet is still perfect! Skull is bright white and I am extremely happy with the work." — Nathan Murkin
They work with everything from life-size mounts to head mounts, shoulder mounts, and European mounts. Their animal list includes:
They also do fish reproductions (not real fish, which are too fragile—you provide a photo and they create a lifelike replica).
Based out of Wasilla with service to: - Matanuska-Susitna Borough - Meadow Lakes, Knik-Fairview, Butte (local area) - Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Soldotna (statewide) - Anywhere in the country and world (ship-in service)
