Match Schedule - Long Range Shooters of Alaska

Long Range Shooters of Alaska (LRSA) organizes competitive shooting events throughout the year at established ranges across south-central Alaska. The club runs a full calendar of precision rifle matches (PRS format) from May through October, with dual venues in Kenai and the Talkeetna area to serve shooters statewide.

• •Range hours: Mon/Thu/Fri 10am–6pm, Sat/Sun 10am–8pm

• •Anchorage Practice & Rimfire – Birchwood Recreation & Shooting Park (BRSP), Anchorage
• •NRL22 rimfire matches held on D range
• •Weekly practice nights with instruction and zero confirmation
• •Props and training from Accurate Advantage instructors

Cartridge Limits: Small to medium rifle cartridges, .30 caliber or smaller, 3,200 FPS velocity limit. No tracer or steel core ammunition permitted.

Safety Rules: - All firearms unloaded until instructed to load and make ready - No handling firearms except at firing line or moving to/from it - Fingers off trigger and bolts back during stage movements - Minimum 7 shooters required or match is cancelled

Must sign up at least 48 hours before the match. Walk-ins welcome at some events but pre-registration strongly preferred.

Pricing varies by event: - NRL22 rimfire: $15 (BRSP members), $20 (non-members) - PRS matches: Typically $25–35 (fees vary by venue) - NRL Hunter (2025): $150 skill division, $300 individual, $600 teams - Practice nights: $5 (BRSP members), $15 (non-members)

Spring: - May 3 & 18: May matches (Kenai & Talkeetna) - May 17: 2025 Launch event - May 24: Intro to NRL Hunter training via Accurate Advantage

Summer: - June 6–8: June matches at both locations - June 7: Re-Launch event - June 20–22: Alaska NRL Hunter Match – 12 stages in Alaska Range foothills near Denali. Expect 15–1,000yd targets, 400' elevation gain, nearly 24-hour daylight, temps 20–60°F. Rugged terrain, hiking required. 180-degree field of fire with no-shoot zone parallel to highway.

Summer/Fall: - July, August, September, October: Monthly matches at alternating venues - October 17: 2026 Finale event

LRSA hosts free practice nights (instruction donated by club volunteers) where you can: - Zero rifles at 100 yards (benches available) - Practice on paper targets and 330-yard steel - Use rimfire props for PRS-style practice - Get coaching from seasoned LRSA shooters
