Lunarita Outfitters

Lunarita Outfitters handles both sides of the hunting equation: getting your dog ready and taking you into the field. They operate out of Arizona with hunting access in New Mexico and Utah, offering everything from dog training to fully guided hunts.

Their training runs March through September with four main options:

• •Day Training — $80/session (2-4 hours), includes birds. You bring your dog, pick it up after.
• •Board and Train — $1,500/month flat rate. Your dog stays on their 2.5-acre property, trains 4 days/week on field work and birds, 4 days/week on obedience. Capped at 6 dogs per session.
• •Wild Bird Exposure — For dogs already well-started. They board your dog during hunting season and run it with their guides on live quail (three species available here).
• •DIY Training Preserve Membership — Self-directed training access on their property.

They evaluate every dog before starting and build a plan around the dog's current level and what you want to get out of it. Training uses both operant and classical conditioning—clicker training, slip/pinch collar, or e-collar depending on your preference. Private 1-on-1 handler training available at your home for $150/session plus travel fee over 30 miles.

They guide upland hunts (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah), big game, and dove hunts. Multiple locations: Tucson, Scottsdale, Sonoita, and Patagonia. They provide experienced guides and seasoned hunting dogs.

Small operation by design. They don't max out capacity. Dogs boarding with them socialize with other dogs and people on-site. The wild bird exposure program specifically addresses the gap most people have—getting a trained dog actual hunting experience before you take it afield yourself.
