Butte City Hunting Club solves the problem most hunters face: overcrowded public refuges, expensive private clubs, and rigid reservation systems. Located in the heart of the Sacramento Valley's Upper Butte Basin and Colusa Basin—just 90 minutes from the state capital—BCHC gives you access to premier hunting without the premium price tag or bureaucracy.
Unlike most private hunting clubs, you don't need reservations or blind drawings. Hunt 7 days a week whenever your schedule allows. Bring your spouse and any children under 17 to hunt with you for free. This family-focused approach makes it possible to build a hunting tradition without breaking the bank.
BCHC controls over 2,500 acres of prime Sacramento Valley habitat:
Blind use and field preparations follow seasonal farming practices and water district schedules, which means conditions vary year to year—but that's the reality of valley hunting.
| Blind Type | Price | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Single Seat | $2,300/season | Most common option |
| 2-Man Blind | $4,600 | Full blind purchase |
| 3-Man Blind | $6,900 | Full blind purchase |
| 4-Man Blind | $9,200 | Full blind purchase |
| Trailer Parking | $250/season | No hookups, membership required |
Trailer parking is available for the season (typically October 3rd Saturday through 2 weeks after waterfowl season ends). Contact Club Manager Phil Frey before placing a trailer on site.
New members contact Club Manager Phil Frey at (530) 518-8635 to discuss blind preferences before completing the application. Individual blind seats may be available—call for current availability.
The club streamlines the application with an online portal:
1. Register and confirm your email address 2. Complete membership application with personal and emergency contact info 3. Select your blind preference (Full-Blind or Single Seat in 2/3/4-man blind) 4. Review and sign Hold Harmless Agreement and Club Rules 5. Add trailer space if needed (first-come, first-served) 6. Pay via Zelle (preferred), personal check, cashier's check, or money order
All members must have a valid California hunting license.
BCHC maintains a full clubhouse headquarters for members:
"We pride ourselves on being a user-friendly, fun-oriented, family-accommodating club."
The hunting season generally runs from the 3rd Saturday of October through 2 weeks after waterfowl season ends. Check the club's Bulletin section for current year dates and field preparation status.
