Full description and what we offer
Santa Clara Paintball opened in 2003 and has become the go-to paintball facility for the greater Bay Area and Silicon Valley. Located at 2542 Monterey Hwy in San Jose, the park operates year-round—rain or shine—with 12 dedicated playing fields and three distinct game types that appeal to everyone from first-time players to serious competitors.
Standard Paintball is the core offering. It's described at SCP as a mix of capture the flag, chess, hide 'n' seek, and raw adrenaline. Games range from 2 to 40 players and run on multiple field variations including:
Low-Impact Paintball uses smaller .50 caliber rounds fired at reduced velocity—the realism of standard paintball without the sting. This opens the sport to younger players (ages 8+, versus 10+ for standard) and first-timers who worry about getting hurt. Equipment is specially engineered to be lighter and less painful on impact.
Outdoor Laser Tag uses harmless infrared technology (like a TV remote) instead of projectiles. No pain, no paint—just sensors lighting up when you're hit. It combines the outdoor strategy of paintball with the painless accuracy of indoor laser tag.
Well-trained referees conduct orientation before you step on the field, explaining marker operation and field rules. SCP enforces safety strictly—players who don't follow rules are asked to leave.
Safety Stats: Paintball has lower injury rates than golf, boating, or bowling. Only .2 injuries per 1,000 exposures. The average player suffers an injury about once every 500 years. (Source: SGMA International)

If you own a paintball marker, you can bring it. However, SCP no longer accepts outside paintballs—all paint must be purchased on-site. Self-equipped players are placed on Intermediate or Advanced teams depending on skill. Beginners with rental gear stay separate from self-equipped players to keep the experience fair.
Beyond corporate events, SCP hosts:
The covered picnic area is ideal for celebrations. Refrigeration of cakes is available at $10/hour.
Paintball paint is non-toxic, non-caustic, biodegradable, and water-soluble—washes out with mild soap and water.
You won't be playing against experts on day one. SCP's priority is safety and fair matchups. Everyone is separated by skill level. Rental players go with beginners. The facility runs games every 5–7 minutes, so minimal downtime. Viewing areas with benches and bleachers let players take breaks and watch teammates.
