Full description and what we offer
North Rim Trophy Hunts operates from Hotchkiss in western Colorado with exclusive access to some of the state's most productive private hunting land. The outfit has been running professional trophy hunts for over a quarter-century, building a reputation on straightforward pricing, experienced guides, and consistent harvests.
The biggest differentiator: no trophy fees. You pay the same hunt price whether you harvest a 300-class elk or a 400-class bull. In September, that's $14,900 per hunter. In October, $11,500. No sliding scale, no surprises.
"The really exceptional thing about our trophy elk hunts is that everybody in the hunt pays the same for any bull. There are no additional charges and no extra fees if you shoot a monster elk."
| Season | Price | Target Score | Avg. Bull |
|---|---|---|---|
| August-September | $14,900 | 350-400 SCI | 370 avg |
| October-November | $11,500 | 280-340 SCI | 320 avg |
Success rates hit 100% in both 2024 and 2025. The ranch spans 2,500 acres with over 10 miles of high fence, elevation from 7,000 to 9,500 feet, mixed aspen and oak brush terrain with spring-fed water sources.
High-Fence Trophy Elk Hunts - Spot-and-stalk on managed 2,500-acre ranch - You can pass or shoot any bull you see - Parties of 1-2 hunters per guide - Includes lodging, meals, and all game handling - Professional guides handle field dressing and meat delivery to lodge
Free-Range Private Land Elk Hunts - 100% fair-chase hunts on unfenced private property - 5-day hunts in October-November (tail end of rut) - Spot-and-stalk combined with stand hunting - Expected harvest rate 50-75% - Cost: $7,500 (includes meals, lodging, guides, private land access)
Hunt Guarantee: If you don't get an opportunity at a trophy bull, you don't pay the hunting charges. A passed shot counts as an opportunity.

Over the past two years, success rate has run 90-100%. Average bucks score between 150-180 SCI. They take a limited number of hunters per season to maintain quality opportunities.
