Julie's website includes detailed field care instructions because proper handling before delivery directly impacts mount quality:
- •Keep birds out of dog mouths (saliva damages feathers)
- •Cool and clean in the field—avoid mud and direct sun
- •Freeze ASAP; don't let them sit in coolers or truck beds
- •For birds kept longer than 12 hours, freeze until delivery
- •Double-bag with air squeezed out; wrap feet and head in wet paper towel for long-term storage
- •Never vacuum seal or store in pantyhose
- •Do not submit breasted-out birds (Julie can breast them in-shop if needed)
