Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders is a family-oriented shooting club dedicated to preserving and promoting black powder marksmanship and frontier heritage since 1974. Located at the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex near Fort Carson in the Penrose area, CSML welcomes shooters of all experience levels to participate in monthly competitive shoots, educational clinics, and heritage demonstrations.
Founded by a dedicated group of men and women passionate about muzzle loading history, Colorado Springs Muzzle Loaders has grown from 10 charter members to over 100 families. The club is affiliated with the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA), the NRA, and the Colorado State Muzzle Loading Association, ensuring members stay connected to the broader shooting community.
CSML offers a range of black powder shooting opportunities:
CSML is a family-friendly organization that hosts potluck dinners, educational presentations, and social events in addition to shooting activities. Members receive status updates via email about upcoming shoots and club activities. Club membership is not required to join the shoot status email list—interested shooters can subscribe to stay informed.
All participants must adhere to CSML Standard Operating Procedures and Range Rules. Only muzzle loading firearms and ammunition are permitted. The range closes at dusk. Separate rules apply for muzzle loading versus cartridge shooting activities.
