Location details and information

Orchard Mesa Gun Club operates as a 100% NRA member club just southeast of Grand Junction, Colorado. Located at 150 Browning Road, the facility serves both recreational shooters and competitive marksmen across western Colorado and nearby Utah.

The club maintains safe, reliable shooting facilities with separate ranges designed to accommodate different shooting disciplines. Members can access the range on weekdays and select weekend days for informal shooting sessions.

  • For Competitors: OMGC has hosted sanctioned competition for years across multiple disciplines:
  • Schuetzenfest matches
  • Bench rest competitions (50-yard rimfire, hunter bench rest, varmint for score)
  • High-power rifle matches (NRA Reduced Course)
  • Practical pistol events
  • Rifle/pistol silhouette matches
  • Axis vs. Allies battle rifle match
  • OMGC rifle competition

Each competition category is managed by designated committees and volunteer officials who handle regularly scheduled events.

  • For Casual Shooters: Members get access during open range days for target shooting and plinking without competition scheduling conflicts.
  • Junior Program: The club operates a structured junior shooting program where young shooters receive instruction from qualified instructors in safe and proficient firearm use, with opportunities to compete within age groups.

NRA membership is mandatory—OMGC is a 100% NRA member club. Current NRA members can join by submitting an application with a label from a current NRA magazine. Non-NRA members can join the NRA and OMGC simultaneously using the club's membership application. Your NRA membership expiration must extend beyond your OMGC membership date.

The club maintains strict range safety protocols enforced by all shooters:

  • Eye and ear protection required for all persons on range
  • Targets must be set directly in front of backstop berms
  • Fired bullets must stay on club property
  • Formal "Line Safe" / "Line Hot" procedures with verbal acknowledgment
  • Firearms unloaded with bolts/slides open when line is declared safe
  • No touching firearms during "Line Safe" condition except by designated person
  • Muzzle control always maintained—barrels pointed up when carrying, downrange at firing line
  • Finger off trigger until ready to fire at the firing line

Violation of safety rules results in permanent membership termination.

The range is easy to find southeast of Grand Junction, close to major highways (I-70) and Grand Junction Airport. A locked gate with identifying signs marks the entrance.

  • From Denver or Utah: Follow I-70 to Grand Junction, take Exit 37 to I-70 Business Loop (SR-141), turn left onto 32 Road for 4.5 miles, left at Springfield Road, right at Browning Road.
  • From Delta/Montrose: Go north on US Highway 50, turn right onto 32 Road for 1 mile, right on Springfield Road, right on Browning Road.

OMGC emphasizes safe, friendly, and fun shooting. The club maintains active calendars for monthly board meetings, work days for range maintenance, and scheduled training sessions. Many events are open to the public, making it accessible to shooters throughout the region.

"We look forward to sharing our SAFE, friendly and fun shooting range with you."

The club preserves the Second Amendment through structured youth programs and competitive shooting opportunities that develop the next generation of responsible shooters.
