Moodus Sportsmen's Club has anchored the Connecticut hunting and fishing community for over 80 years. Based on the Moodus Reservoir in East Haddam, the club operates as a gathering point for hunters, fishermen, trappers, and outdoor enthusiasts across the region.

The club runs a packed calendar of member events:

  • •5-Stand Shoots - Autumn Sundays starting in September, plus March Madness themed competition
  • •Game Dinners - February, March, April, and September events (5:00 p.m. with snow dates)
  • •Annual Shad Bake - June tradition (week before Father's Day)
  • •Children's Fishing Derby - May event for kids 12 and under with 2-trout limit and breakfast service
  • •Black Powder Rendezvous - December event (8:30 a.m. breakfast)
  • •Monthly Member Meetings - 7:30 p.m. gatherings with officer elections in April

Club dues are due July 1st each year. Membership includes access to facilities, events, and the option to renew NRA memberships through the club.

The clubhouse at 299 East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike overlooks the Moodus Reservoir and is available for rental. Limited Sunday rentals apply September through March (no Sunday rentals during this period). Fridays are reserved for members-only activities. Contact Dave Shelberg to coordinate rentals.

The club maintains an active resource network linking members to state hunting and fishing regulations, the Civilian Marksmanship Program, Connecticut DEP guides, disabled hunter programs, and related sportsmen's organizations across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
