Full description and what we offer
Serbu Firearms manufactures semi-automatic .50 BMG rifles from their Tampa, Florida facility. They've carved out a reputation for making magazine-fed, gas-operated .50 BMG rifles that actually work—not as experimental novelties, but as shootable firearms.
Serbu runs a two-tier system:
Orders are manually processed, so payment may take a few days to clear. You can pay the full amount upfront if you want, but it won't bump your spot in the build queue. Changes to your order are allowed before final payment but not after.
All firearms ship to an FFL dealer of your choice. Serbu handles the logistics—you just need to have your dealer send a signed copy of their FFL before shipment.
Most AR-15 style pistol grips fit the BFG-50. Trigger group parts are nearly all standard AR-15 components (except the hammer). Drop-in trigger kits that bundle trigger, hammer, and springs won't work.
Serbu stocks:
"The BFG-50A isn't currently available with an adjustable gas block, which is necessary for reliable cycling with a suppressor." An adjustable gas block is in development, but no release date.
Factory muzzle brakes come with red Loctite (extremely hard to remove). If you plan to suppress your rifle, request blue Loctite at order time instead. Muzzle threads are 1.00-14 across all models.
To remove red Loctite yourself: Heat both brake and jam nut to 500°F+ with a propane torch (move it around to heat 360 degrees). Watch for a small puff of smoke—that's your signal the Loctite is melting. Then unscrew immediately before it hardens.
Use medium-height scope rings on the BFG-50 due to the raised rail. Medium rings still accommodate large objective lenses. Budget $350+ for a scope specifically rated for .50 BMG recoil.
Legal to own nationwide except California (Serbu offers CA-legal options by request). No special license required in most states—but verify with your local FFL dealer.
Ammo costs $1.75–$6+ per round depending on type and source. Good ball ammo averages $2–3 per round.
Downloadable manuals available on their site. For parts diagrams and replacement parts, Serbu provides exploded views. Contact them via email ([email protected]) or text/phone (813-243-8899—text/email preferred).
Lead time reality check: The wait isn't how fast Serbu builds (that's quick). It's how long you wait to move up the customer build list. Check their lead times page before ordering.
