Meritorious started with a simple idea: merge competitive shooting with serious business networking, then make it a year-round ecosystem. What started in Missouri has expanded to 8 states in two years—and they're aiming for nationwide coverage.
Each event runs full-day (typically 10am-5pm) at premier outdoor facilities. Here's what you get:
- •Guns and ammunition provided — you don't bring your own
- •Individual and team competitions with trained safety personnel on site
- •Squad assignments of ~25 people to force genuine connections, not just handshaking
- •Lunch, cigars, and awards throughout the day
- •Real prizes — first place takes home a firearm from sponsor brands, second/third get tactical gear
- •FFL on site to handle firearm transfers to winners
"We don't do trophies." Winners actually take firearms home.
After the range closes, attendees log into the Meritorious app (iOS/Android or desktop) to:
- •Reconnect with other competitors
- •Access Mentor Connect virtual events
- •Match with mentors or find mentees
- •Continue B2B and B2C networking
- •Collaborate on business opportunities
This bridges the gap between one-day events and lasting business relationships.
- •Veterans (active duty, transitioning, and those out for years)
- •Military spouses
- •Business executives and small business owners
- •Recruiters and HR leaders
- •Nonprofits serving military communities
Meritorious deliberately mixes Tier 1 operators with executives who served 20 years ago and everyone in between—intentional cross-pollination for mentorship and hiring.
Meritorious sponsors active duty and transitioning veterans to attend events. For $100, one veteran gets:
- •Full event access
- •Guns and ammunition
- •All competitions and meals
- •Private invitation to Meritorious app and Mentor Connect
They sponsored 200 transitioning veterans in 2023 alone—using ticket sales and donations to cover costs.

Most veteran networking is either virtual (stale Zoom calls) or shooting-only (no business value). Meritorious built infrastructure that:
1. Gets people in the same room — shooting makes conversation easy, removes the "networking event" awkwardness 2. Creates accountability — squad-based competitions mean you work together for hours 3. Gives real stakes — winning a rifle matters more than a plaque 4. Extends beyond the event — the app keeps momentum going 5. Solves a real problem — connecting transitioning veterans with hiring companies and mentors
Brands like Smith & Wesson, Davidson's, and Hyperion Munitions sponsor events. In return, they get:
- •On-site visibility and demonstrations
- •Product placement as prizes
- •Social media and PR campaigns
- •Activation opportunities
- •Access to veteran and business leader audiences
You can sponsor a single state or go nationwide.
- •Sponsor a Veteran — $100 covers full event access for one transitioning veteran
- •Corporate Sponsorship — State-level or nationwide packages available
- •In-Kind Donations — Send latest tactical gear or firearms for demos, raffles, or giveaways
- •Make a Direct Donation — 501(c)(3) nonprofit status (EIN 88-2823446)
- •Fundraise — Set up a personal or company fundraising page in two minutes
Meritorious Foundation maintains a 2025 Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency. They partner with chambers of commerce, economic development councils, and state initiatives to drive local business conversations while improving quality of life for veterans.
Their 5-year goal: events in every gun-friendly state in the country.
