Lancaster Family Hunting

Lancaster Family Hunting operates out of the remote Mackenzie Mountains in the Northwest Territories, with basecamp locations near Norman Wells and Fort Simpson. Jim and Clay Lancaster run a family outfitting operation built on decades of experience accessing some of Canada's best hunting territory.

Hunters fly into Edmonton, overnight, then continue to Norman Wells or Fort Simpson depending on hunt dates. The outfit handles travel logistics through their travel agent (Sandy Farber). From basecamp, you hunt with experienced guides who know the Mackenzie Mountains terrain intimately.

Basecamp features fresh buns, grilled game meat for every meal, and comfortable accommodations. Expect campfire stories from over 50 years of family outfitting. The operation maintains walk-in coolers for meat storage and partners with Dakota Taxidermy (Brian Kadermas) for trophy preparation.

They skin, flesh, and salt-dry all hides to professional standards for shipping or mounting. All meat is removed from the field and transported to basecamp in optimal condition. If airline limits prevent you from taking everything home, they'll cut, wrap, and freeze your portions. Remaining meat is donated to local Mackenzie Valley communities.

Repeating clients include hunters from Georgia, Wyoming, Oregon, and across North America who've returned multiple times. Recent success includes Dall rams, Fannin sheep, Alaska-Yukon moose, mountain goat, and mountain caribou.
