Sweetgrass at Thunderbasin operates a working sporting ranch near Gillette, Wyoming with three distinct upland bird hunting zones:

• •Duck Creek Breaks - Walk-up pheasant hunts along cottonwood-lined creek beds
• •Mae Mae Grassland - 300 acres of rolling terrain surrounded by Thunderbasin National Grassland, prime for chukars and sharp-tail grouse
• •The Forest - Black Hills hunting with tight shots through trees and narrow couloirs

Multi-day hunts (2-3 days standard) are fully inclusive. Your package covers:

Owner Rick Steiner is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer and aerospace executive who built Sweetgrass as a working and sporting ranch. Deirdre Wildman, owner of Chrysalis Hospitality, manages all operational and culinary elements with 20+ years of hospitality industry experience.

Beyond standard hunts, Sweetgrass hosts specialized clinics:

• •Combat & Pistol Course (June) - Full-spectrum pistol training including malfunction drills, barricade shooting, and vehicle defense. $4,750 all-inclusive.
• •Sporting Clays Clinic (June) - Four-time national champion Zachary Kienbaum and 2x national ladies champion Desirae Edmunds provide instruction for all levels.
• •Chef Camp, Women's Wing Shoot, and Couples Events throughout the year
