Full description and what we offer

Hook You Up Outfitters runs licensed and insured guided hunts throughout Hawaii—Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and the Big Island. Sonny Thater owns and operates the outfit, and every hunt is controlled guided harvest on private ranch land, typically 30-45 minutes from lodging.

All packages come with fully-furnished beachfront accommodations, 4x4 Jeep transportation, lunch and beverages in the field. You choose your hunting style: spot and stalk, fair chase, tree stands, or ground blinds. Weapon rentals (rifle, crossbow, compound bow) are available if you don't bring your own.

Axis deer (also called Chital deer) are the signature hunt here. These animals were introduced to Molokai in the 1860s as a gift from Hong Kong to King Kamehameha V and spread to Lanai. They're popular because they're clean (no fleas or ticks), have never had diseases threatening the species, and their white spotted cape and dark horns make trophy-quality animals.

  • The numbers: Hunters average spotting 8 shooter bucks in a single day. Some see 12 or more. Rarely someone sees just 1 or none. Some hunters have encountered 400+ axis deer during a hunt. Antlers range from 20" to 36" or longer.

No hunter booked with Hook You Up Outfitters has ever gone home without an opportunity at game in bow or rifle range on their axis deer hunt.

  • 1-day hunts are the standard—hunters harvest what they're looking for on day one, though 2-day options exist. You can take 1 buck and 1 doe per hunt.

Hawaii's wild pigs cause extreme damage to the rainforest ecosystem, and hunting helps control the population. These boars are results of genetic mixing—originally brought by Captain Cook in the late 1700s, then bred with other species introduced over time.

Average: 6 hogs spotted per day hunt. Some days 12+, some 4-8, rare occasions 1 or none. You harvest 2 hogs per hunt with no trophy fees. Hunting methods: tree stand, ground blind, spot and stalk, or traditional knife-and-dog hunts (Hawaiian style). Hunts run 1-2 days on Oahu, Kauai, or Molokai.

  • Included: Lunch and drinks, meat and trophy preparation.

Modlokai's rugged terrain hosts wild goats descended from Spanish shipwrecks (early 1700s) and European imports. These animals have adapted and genetically blended into different trophy shapes—some throw ibex-style horns, others carry wide twisted turns. Black Hawaiian goats also available. No trophy fees on these hunts.

The most challenging hunt on the roster. These are 2-3 day hunts with no guarantee—hunters have spotted up to 12 during a pursuit, but sometimes zero. Bucks typically carry 3-4 curls. No trophy fees. Buck only (does not harvested).

Hook You Up Outfitters runs shoreline and deep sea fishing across Hawaiian waters for multiple species.

50% deposit required to book (cashier's check, money order, or credit card with 2.75% processing fee). Remaining 50% due 2 weeks before hunt date. Deposits are non-refundable but transferable to another person or date (up to 1 year out) in case of emergency. Group discounts available for 4 or more hunters. Custom packages can add extra days and animals.

Wounded animals count as harvested. If you decide to take an additional animal or upgrade during the hunt, that's paid in cash to the guide in the field before harvest.

  • What's NOT included: Gratuity, Hawaii hunting license fees, 4.712% state sales tax, observing companions or camera operators.

Hunters consistently report 100% success rates on dog-and-knife boar hunts. One repeat client returned for their 3rd hunting/fishing trip and called every outing "an amazing ride."
