NRA Basic Instructor Training Course

Eagle Rock Gun School and Range operates as a tax-exempt educational organization dedicated to safe firearms training and public shooting access in Idaho Falls. Located on West Broadway approximately 10 miles west of the city, ERGSR was created specifically to teach safe firearm use for both recreational shooting and self-protection purposes.

The range features a covered canopy with dedicated rifle and pistol benches, stools for prone or seated shooting, and portable/fixed target lines extending to 100 yards. Shooters get one paper target on a stand included with range access, with additional targets available for a small fee. You're welcome to bring your own paper targets as well.

• •Cold range rules in effect: All firearms come unloaded to the firing line, actions open when empty. No loaded guns leave the line. Eye and ear protection mandatory for everyone on the firing line.

All instruction comes from NRA-certified instructors—many holding additional certifications beyond NRA standards. Available courses include:

The range opens to the public at minimal cost. Annual memberships make frequent shooting affordable:

• •Individual Annual Pass: $80/year
• •Family Annual Pass: $100/year (includes up to 5 dependent family members)

Family members under 18 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. Both individual and family passes can be renewed online or by mail.

Eagle Rock provides free range access for organizations serving the community, including Boy Scouts of America, 4-H Clubs, Hunter Education programs, and the Bonneville County Sheriff's Department—all using the facility for their official training needs.

• •No armor-piercing ammo, tracers, or .50 BMG rounds
• •Authorized targets only (ERGSR approved)
• •Eye and ear protection required for all shooters and guests at firing line
• •No alcohol, smoking, or eating on firing line
• •Minors under 18 need direct parent/guardian supervision while shooting
• •No vandalism (prosecuted under Idaho Code 18-7001)

As a nonprofit, Eagle Rock depends on grants and private donations for range development. All shooter fees go directly to operational costs. They actively seek support to continue providing safe shooting and firearms training to Bonneville County and surrounding areas.
