Jesse Tatman started Saddle Horn Outfitters in January 2023 after purchasing the permit area from Flying J Outfitters. He's been guiding backcountry adventures since 1995, working for operations like Flying J Outfitters in Utah, Mossback Outfitters, and Alaska Frontier Guides.
Saddle Horn operates in Idaho Unit 66 in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and multiple Wyoming areas through Bridger-Teton National Forest permits. All hunts take place on public National Forest land.

Idaho hunts include: - Rifle Elk/Mule Deer Combo ($11,500 for 9 days) - Archery Elk/Mule Deer Combo - Late Season Draw Mule Deer ($5,775 for 7 days) - Over-the-Counter Cow Elk ($3,250 for 6 days) - Moose hunts (draw only) - Spring and Fall Black Bear - Drop camps and semi-guided options - Fishing pack trips to Palisades Reservoir
Camps sit 4-10 miles from the Bear Creek North trailhead south of Palisades Dam. Hunters ride seasoned pack horses and mules (300 lb weight limit with gear). Camp setup includes:

All guides hold Idaho Outfitters and Guides Licensing Board licenses plus current CPR/First Aid training. Guide experience ranges from 3-6 years with Saddle Horn. Jesse's background includes Alaska brown bear and Dall sheep guiding, plus a grizzly charge experience while moose hunting in 2007.
Hunts run year-round with temperatures from 10°F to 75°F depending on season. No horse experience required - they'll teach you.
50% deposit required at booking, balance due June 1st for most hunts. Airport pickup available from Idaho Falls, Jackson Hole, or Salt Lake City for additional fee. License and tag fees separate - Idaho non-resident elk/deer combo runs $651.75 plus hunting license.
Satellite phones and messengers provide emergency communication in areas without cell coverage.
