Full description and what we offer
Shoshone County Public Shooting Range is a free, non-profit public shooting range located in Smelterville, Idaho. This community-supported facility welcomes shooters of all skill levels to enjoy rifle, pistol, and archery disciplines in a safe, well-maintained environment.
Shoshone County Public Shooting Range is dedicated to providing affordable, accessible shooting sports opportunities to the public. As a non-profit operation, the range relies on the generosity of its users to maintain facilities and operations.
The range features dedicated areas for multiple shooting activities:
The facility implements a professional cold/hot range signal system using red light indicators. When the red light is on, the range is cold—all firearms must have actions open and remain untouched until the range is cleared. Shooters must move behind designated red line safety zones during cold periods. This system ensures safe operations for shooters, spectators, and children.
Located at 1700 Government Gulch in Smelterville, Shoshone County Public Shooting Range offers ample parking and designated spectator areas. The range is open to the public and free to use, with optional donations accepted via cash on-site or Venmo to support facility maintenance and improvements.
The range accepts donations in multiple forms: cash donations at the facility, Venmo transfers (note "for the Range" in the memo), and brass donations. Contact the range leadership to inquire about purchasing or donating brass.
