Full description and what to expect
El Buscaderos Cowboy Action Shooting events bring together shooters who compete in historically-inspired stages that blend marksmanship with the spirit of the Old West. Competitors face multiple shooting scenarios designed to test accuracy, speed, and gun handling across various weapons and distances.
Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) features stages that recreate frontier shooting scenarios. Shooters move through courses of fire using period-appropriate firearms and techniques. Stages typically involve pistols, rifles, and shotguns fired from different positions and distances. Each stage is timed, with accuracy and speed both factoring into placement. Competitors are grouped by division based on firearm choices and shooting style.
This event welcomes shooters with handgun and rifle experience. You don't need extensive competition background—many participants are recreational shooters looking to develop their skills in a structured environment. The cowboy action format appeals to those interested in firearms history and Western shooting traditions, as well as competitive shooters seeking a different challenge than conventional match formats.
Matches are held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at El Buscaderos Range, giving shooters regular opportunities to compete and improve throughout the year.
