Chicago Aftershock Paintball was born in 1991 from a merger between two dominant local teams: The Lords of Discipline and Scream. The Lords were one of the most aggressive and intimidating 15-man teams of their era, winning The Line SI International Masters, The Poconos, and The World Cup. Scream, a younger squad featuring players like Renick Miller and Gary Noblett, played a fast, aggressive style that constantly pushed opponents.
After The Lords received a lifetime ban from tournament promoters following an incident at the Chicago Open, Steve Copeland and Renick Miller finalized discussions that had been brewing for years. Aftershock officially launched in spring 1991, merging veteran talent with hungry younger players.
The early years (1991-1992) were spent gelling as a unit. Then in 1993, superstar players Danny Love and Mike Bruno joined the roster. That's when everything clicked.
Aftershock won more N.P.P.L. 10-man events than any team in history and more N.P.P.L. 10-man World Cups than any other 3 teams combined.
Key tournament victories include: - Boston Open - World Cup (multiple) - International Masters (5-man and 10-man)
The roster includes legendary names like Steve Copeland, John "Spud" Jackson, Ryan Northrop, Tim Brown, and dozens of others who defined competitive paintball.

Aftershock's success didn't happen in isolation. Long-term sponsor relationships shaped the team:
While Aftershock isn't the overwhelmingly dominant force of past decades, they remain an upper-echelon team in the PSP Pro division. With continuous roster transitions—the modern reality of competitive paintball—they're working to return to championship form.
The team's history represents the golden age of paintball competition, and current members continue representing that legacy.
