Naperville Sportsman's Club has operated Sportsman's Park since 1937, making it a cornerstone of the local shooting community. The range sits just minutes from the Naperville Riverwalk and downtown shops at 735 West Street—convenient access without feeling out of place in the city.
Public shooting hours: - Sundays: Noon–4pm (arrives one hour before closing recommended) - Thursdays: 6pm–10pm - Phone: 630-828-6671 (during range hours)
Closed Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and major holidays that fall on operating days.
Trap Fundamentals – Classroom instruction on firearm safety and trapshooting basics from NRA-certified instructors, followed by a live fire round under supervision. Registration through Naperville Park District.
Next Steps Trap Class – For shooters who've completed beginner courses. Includes: - Two rounds of trap (50 shots) - One-on-one instruction on the firing line - Gun fit assistance, eye dominance check, lead and sight picture instruction - Eye and ear protection provided - Two boxes of shells (12ga or 20ga only) - $50 per person (limited space, registration required)
Hunter Safety – Field day courses (5–7 hours) for anyone born after January 1, 1980, pursuing a hunting license. Hands-on instruction, safety assessment, and ethics training. Limited to 35 students; walk-ins welcome with voucher.
Club volunteers teach all courses. Instructors include names like Patti Pfister (works with female shooters) and Art Dwight—members who give their time to build the next generation of responsible shooters.
