Full description and what we offer
777 Hunts operates a pheasant hunting lodge in Clay Center, Kansas—2 hours north of Wichita, 2.5 hours from Kansas City. They control over 3,000 acres of prime pheasant hunting land, a mix of rolling prairie grasslands and dedicated food plots planted specifically for pheasant habitat. This isn't a backyard operation. They're positioned in one of the fastest-growing pheasant regions in the Midwest, competing directly with South Dakota outfitters but with logistics advantages (shorter travel from Texas and Oklahoma) and better late-season weather.
"The lodge has beautiful stamped concrete flooring and an open floorplan. With rustic features of barnwood and tin, to the amazing bar and gathering area, this lodge competes with some of the best in the Kansas pheasant hunting industry."
They built this intentionally—the lodge is part of the hunting experience, not an afterthought.
The operation runs seven guides, each with decades of experience and specific specialties:
| Guide | Experience | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Trent Leichleiter | Lifetime hunting/training | Dog trials (BDC Worlds, NSCA clay shoots), retriever expertise |
| Terry Bisgard | 25+ years | Browning Pro Staff, Mossy Oak Pro Staff, finished 2nd in world with his yellow Lab |
| Tom Fauble | Guiding since 2008 | Upland, waterfowl, turkey, shooting instruction, dog trials |
| Jason Christiansen | 40+ years hunting, 10+ waterfowl, guiding upland since 2012 | Waterfowl specialist, Lab enthusiast ("is there another breed?") |
| Greg Preston | 35+ years hunting, guiding since 2006 | German Shorthair Pointer handler, competitive shooter, clay target instruction |
| Greg Middleton | Nearly 50 years hunting | Lab specialist, enjoys international hunts |
| Paul Carrier | Raised hunting upland/turkey | Licensed electrician, fisherman, appreciates good dog work |
These aren't hired hands. Multiple guides mention how guiding at 777 Hunts "doesn't feel like work" because they're genuinely meeting hunters from across the country and sharing what they love.

The source content makes their positioning clear: Kansas pheasant populations are climbing rapidly. While South Dakota built the reputation, Kansas now offers:
They're banking on hunters choosing them because the experience is the same (or better) but logistics favor Kansas.
