Full description and what we offer
Show Me Birds operates a full-scale hunting resort in Baxter Springs, Kansas—the kind of place where you leave with a sore shoulder from shooting, not sore feet from walking. What started in 1990 as a hobby has grown into a destination that draws hunters from across the country and around the world.
Their guided field hunts mix a professional staff, highly trained pointing dogs (they work over 200 dogs on property), great flying birds, and Kansas farmland. Hunters rotate shooting with friends while watching expert dog work—not the standard walk-and-block approach that dominates other operations. Every hunt includes a guide, access to multiple farms, lunch, bird dressing, bird processing, clubhouse access, and group photo.
"You have two choices: walk miles of grain fields in South Dakota with a dozen other hunters, or come here and take turns shooting while your buddies watch the dogs work."
Hunt packages start at $247 (before tax) for 4 pheasants per hunter with no bag limit. Upgrades available up to 20 pheasants per hunter. They run 14 groups per day across their 7 hunting farms.
Kim Shira, the owner, traveled to Spain to learn how to organize European-style shoots—and built the only program like it in the USA. These events run most weekends with 50+ shoots per year. Hunters commonly shoot 6-9 boxes of shells on 300-500 bird events. Their largest shoots are legendary: 100 pheasants airborne in 2 minutes, 9,000+ shells fired in 3 hours on 1,000-bird events.
Beyond field hunts, the resort includes: - Olympic skeet range (half mile from clubhouse) - Pheasant Fury (160 clay targets in 60 seconds) - Wobble trap range - .22 rifle youth shooting range - Pistol and rifle ranges - Retriever launching dock - 4 stocked fishing ponds - 150-person pavilion
