Full description and what we offer
Skeen Gundogs & Outfitters is a family operation that turned 30+ years of waterfowl and upland hunting passion into a guided hunting business. Wade and team bring a 22-year military background to the outfitting world, running everything with the same level of professionalism and attention to detail you'd expect from that training.
"Volume doesn't define us. Relationships do."
They cap groups at 8 hunters per trip—intentionally small to ensure everyone gets the experience they came for, not just bodies filling slots.
3-Day All-Inclusive Kansas Waterfowl Hunt: $2,400 per person
These hunts include: - Lodging in a fully equipped house with kitchen, fireplace, washer/dryer, and outdoor fire pit - All meals prepared on-site - Experienced waterfowl guides - Trained gun dogs - Most equipment provided
The lodge is about 45 minutes from Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT). Check-in is 4:00 pm the day before your first hunt.
Hunters brought home 91 birds in four days during one trip—and that was with some losses to ice and river currents. The operation adjusts for current conditions and puts serious effort into finding birds.
Half-Day Upland Hunt: $250 per person
Includes field meals prepared on-site. You're hunting chukar, pheasant, and quail across some of the country's historically productive upland ground. Guides have walked hundreds of miles covering Kansas prairie, and they bring trained pointing dogs.
You can add a half-day upland hunt to any waterfowl package for a combo experience.
Pricing starts at $500 per session for 2-3 hour sessions. Final pricing depends on a thorough evaluation of your dog and your goals.
Right Start for Puppies (Ages 2-6 months) Socialization program with exposure to other dogs, people, children, and positive environments. Produces confident dogs ready for basic gundog work.
Gundog Fundamentals (3-6 months) Core retriever skills with emphasis on obedience—nobody wants an undisciplined dog in the blind. Includes marked retrieves, gunfire introduction, real birds, decoys, blind work, and honoring other dogs.
Advanced Gundog (3-6 months) Raises the bar with lining on blind retrieves, casting to overs and backs, angle backs, and longer distance marking for those big sailers.
Upland Training (3-6 months) Basic upland hunting skills including flushing/pointing, multiple bird species introduction, gunfire, whoa training, and honoring points.
Versatility Training (3-6 months) Combo program for hunters who want one dog that handles both waterfowl and upland hunting.
All training includes boarding, food, and one-on-one consultation to build a customized program. Their philosophy: coaching handlers through training plateaus and building confident relationships between dog and owner.
