Central Kentucky Hunting Retriever Association

Founded in 2002 by Derek Beard, the Central Kentucky Hunting Retriever Association serves retriever owners who want to train and title their dogs through UKC-licensed hunt tests. They're built on straightforward goals: give members quality venues, structured competition, and clear pathways to achievement.

• •Family membership: $30/year

• •Hunt Tests & Training run year-round:
• •Upland training days (Quail Point Preserve)
• •Started, Seasoned, and Finished hunt tests
• •Upland hunt tests
• •Regular training at Miller Welch WMA

Test entry fees range from $75 (Started) to $95 (Finish), with additional fees for non-UKC registered dogs ($5) and non-HRC members ($5).

• •Annual Meeting brings members together at The Office Pub in Frankfort with lunch provided by the club. Training days happen throughout the season at established preserves and WMAs with consistent start times (typically 9 AM).

Members support the national Hunting Retriever Association alongside the local club—CKHRA explicitly recognizes that their strength depends on this dual-level membership network.

Club gear includes branded t-shirts ($18–$25), hoodies and jackets ($40–$59), caps ($18), and beanies ($18). Hunting accessories like goose calls ($30) are available. Limited stock sells at events, but special purchase links are available by request.
