Full description and what we offer
Dave's Bayou Lodge & Outfitter sits deep in north Louisiana's hunting country—specifically positioned on the Mississippi River flyway with the Ouachita River to the west. The operation centers around 4,000+ acres of rice fields, conservation projects, and pit blinds designed to intercept migrating waterfowl that feed on Delta cropland.
Louisiana's early season teal hunts are known for speed and action. Teal are small, fast, and aerobatic—making them an extremely fast-paced hunt compared to other waterfowl. Dave's Bayou specializes in these hunts with blinds positioned across their property. You'll need non-toxic ammo and can bring your own gun or rent one through their program. The outfit provides guides with trained retrievers for bird retrieval, and they'll clean and vacuum seal your harvest back at the lodge.
Booking requirements: - 4-person minimum per blind - 50% non-refundable deposit within 10 days of booking - 3% surcharge on credit card payments - Louisiana residents need: Federal Duck stamp, Louisiana Small/Migratory Bird License, HIP Registration, state waterfowl stamp - Non-residents need: Federal Duck stamp plus one-day Non-resident Louisiana Small/Migratory Bird License (covers HIP and state stamp)
Regular waterfowl hunts run the full season with the same 4,000-acre property and pit blind setup. The lodge won't do afternoon hunts, but morning flights are standard. Same guide structure with retrievers, bird handling, and lodge meals included with your stay.
Offered to lodge guests during waterfowl season. Species available: - Whitetail deer - Red stag - Sitka deer - Axis deer - Fallow deer
They maintain comfortable box stands across their property. Contact guide Jimmy Street at 318-376-5240 for pricing and availability.
Now open and functional on-site. Five-stand is a clay shooting game that mimics live bird presentations using seven trap machines positioned around the shooting area. Up to 5 shooters per flight rotate through 5 stands, taking three presentations from each (singles, then report pair, then true pair). Complete round is 25 targets.
This is casual enough for novice shooters but challenging enough for serious practice before hunts. All lodge guests get one complimentary round with their booking. Additional rounds can be purchased. Day-use only requires 5-person minimum—call ahead to arrange.
Pro Shop Inventory: - Banded gear (waterfowl clothing line) - Dave's Bayou branded merchandise (hats, shirts) - Last-minute supplies (gloves, ammunition) - Emergency items (replacements if luggage gets lost in travel)
They rent shotguns to lodge guests to avoid the hassle of traveling with firearms. Guides assist with selection and setup. Standard rental included or arranged through your hunt package.
