Full description and what we offer
The Island operates a private hunting lodge and wildlife reserve on the bayous near Paradis, Louisiana. The main lodge is built from cypress timber logged from Des Allemands—the original structure dates to 1946 and was transported by barge to its current location. Major renovations in 1984 and 2018 expanded capacity and modernized facilities.
Deer hunting runs October–January for trophy white-tailed bucks. Cleaning and packaging included.
Alligator hunts operate August–October on Louisiana bayous. Processing and packaging included.
Pheasant and quail hunts run October–March, including European-style tower shoots. Combo packages available with overnight lodging, Cajun dinner, and breakfast.
Exotic hunts (fallow, axis, sika deer) available year-round, subject to availability. Includes cleaning and packaging.
Field hunts require a minimum of 3 people per group, professional guides, trained dogs, and 2 boxes of shells per hunter.
The Island is the original home of Spots, the blue-eyed white alligator who became famous at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Spots was recovered from the property in 1986 and lived there until donated to Audubon Zoo in 1990.
The Island offers personal and corporate memberships. Hunters can bring their own firearms and ammunition, or rent/purchase from the lodge's collection. Louisiana hunting licenses are required and can be purchased online; the lodge assists members with licensing.
Located in Paradis, LA at 130 Griffin Lane (off I-310, minutes from Des Allemands). Just 20 minutes from New Orleans International Airport, making it accessible for out-of-state hunters without a long drive from the city.
Beyond hunting, The Island hosts corporate retreats, group reunions, team-building events, and special gatherings. The renovated lodge and 3,100-acre property accommodate large groups.
