Orville Deutchman has been reloading ammunition since the early 1970s—and hasn't bought a factory load in over 20 years. His journey started with necked rifle cartridges and expanded across pistol, rifle, and wildcat chamberings as his gun collection grew. Today he reloads more than 30 different cartridge types.

• •Lead Bullet Casting Specialist - Orville is an accomplished lead bullet caster with numerous molds, many custom-made for specific guns he owns. He understands that projectiles represent the single most expensive component in reloading—and casting your own cuts that cost dramatically.

• •Jacketed Bullet Swaging - In recent years, he's acquired equipment to produce jacketed bullets using pistol and rifle cases as donor jacket material. For example, he converts 45 ACP brass cases into .500 S&W Magnum bullets that match Hornady XTP hollow point performance while cutting costs to a fraction of commercial prices (which run $.50+ per bullet).

• •NRA Certified Instruction - NRA instructor #163237136, Orville provides both one-on-one and group instruction tailored to student needs. Classes happen at his reloading studio, your location, or at partner reloading supply shops throughout Florida.

• •Full Metallic Cartridge Reloading Class (RL01) - Basic pistol and rifle reloading fundamentals. This foundational course covers everything beginners need to start reloading safely and accurately.

• •Custom Reloading Class - 4-hour advanced classes for students with existing reloading proficiency or RL01 completion. Topics include:

• •Lead Bullet Casting Workshop - Intensive training in casting molten lead at 750°+ degrees, held in winter months. Orville hosts assistant instructors and covers the complete process from beginning to end.

Orville moved to the Daytona area from Maine in 2013. While in New England, his students came from all six states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island). Since relocating to Florida, he's taught students traveling from across the state—Tampa, Key West, Orlando, Tallahassee, Jacksonville—plus Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

His typical student roster ranges from complete beginners with zero hands-on experience to seasoned reloaders seeking advanced skills. He's also certified several commercial Class 6 FFL ammunition manufacturers.

Beyond reloading instruction, Orville holds additional NRA certifications and previously instructed for WeaponCraftTraining in Maine. He's qualified to provide Florida Concealed Carry Permit training and self-defense handgun instruction at multiple skill levels—recognizing that "having a permit isn't enough. You need the skills so that when the time comes to use your carry gun, you know how to do that effectively."
