Full description and what we offer
Orville Deutchman has been reloading ammunition since the early 1970s—and hasn't bought a factory load in over 20 years. His journey started with necked rifle cartridges and expanded across pistol, rifle, and wildcat chamberings as his gun collection grew. Today he reloads more than 30 different cartridge types.
Orville moved to the Daytona area from Maine in 2013. While in New England, his students came from all six states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island). Since relocating to Florida, he's taught students traveling from across the state—Tampa, Key West, Orlando, Tallahassee, Jacksonville—plus Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
His typical student roster ranges from complete beginners with zero hands-on experience to seasoned reloaders seeking advanced skills. He's also certified several commercial Class 6 FFL ammunition manufacturers.
Beyond reloading instruction, Orville holds additional NRA certifications and previously instructed for WeaponCraftTraining in Maine. He's qualified to provide Florida Concealed Carry Permit training and self-defense handgun instruction at multiple skill levels—recognizing that "having a permit isn't enough. You need the skills so that when the time comes to use your carry gun, you know how to do that effectively."
The Florida Reloading website hosts an extensive library of reloading articles covering: - Brass cleaning and preparation techniques - Headspace fundamentals and sizing procedures - Load data documentation and record-keeping - Pressure signs and safety protocols - Cartridge case longevity for .45 ACP and other common rounds - Accuracy optimization for rifle and pistol loads - Specific caliber challenges (.357 Sig, .300 Blackout, .500 S&W Magnum, etc.) - Bullet selection and cost comparison analysis - Equipment setup and tool recommendations
Classes No Longer Available: As of 2021, Orville made the decision to end in-person classes and relocate to New England to be with family. However, his extensive article library remains a free resource for reloaders at all levels.
When classes were active, Orville worked with area reloading suppliers: - Southeast Reloading Supply (S. Daytona, FL) - Acme Reloading Supply (St. Augustine, FL)
