Full description and what we offer
Harris Farm Airsoft Field sits on 271 Buzzell Road in Dayton, Maine—across from the Harris Farm Store at the "SugarHouse" location. The property spans 55 acres of mature woods with the kind of natural features that make airsoft worth playing: hills, gullies, streams, swamps, trails, bridges, and a 200-foot firing range. The field also includes military-style buildings and high-walled close-quarters battle (CQB) structures built specifically for tactical gameplay.
This is a fully insured outdoor venue, not a backyard operation.
Harris Farm closes from October through April because the property doubles as a deer hunting area, cross-country skiing destination, and maple syrup operation. The airsoft season runs May through the end of September. They host public events most Saturdays plus occasional weekday events.
| Season | Schedule |
|---|---|
| May-September | Regular Saturday events |
| October-April | Closed (hunting/skiing/syrup harvest) |
This isn't a casual operation. Harris Farm runs on three core values: Safety, Honor, Understand Rules (SHUR).
Eye Protection Requirements: - Full-seal protective eyewear mandatory at all times in the Live-fire Zone - Must be attached with an elastic strap (shooting glasses alone are insufficient) - Lenses must meet or exceed ANSI Z87.1 ballistic protection standard - Full-face protection required for anyone under 15; strongly recommended for all
Weapon FPS Limits: - Standard airsoft guns: 400 fps (1.858 joules) max - Bolt-action rifles: 550 fps (3.513 joules) max with 36+ inch length requirement - Bolt-action rifles must maintain 100-foot minimum engagement distance from human targets - Chronographic testing is routine to verify compliance
Prohibited Items: - Real steel firearms, metal BB guns, pellet guns - Metal BBs (aluminum or stainless steel) - Ceramic glass/silica BBs - Flares, firecrackers, exposed-fuse grenades - Real knives used as weapons - Alcohol and illicit drugs
Field Terrain Reality: > The biggest hazard isn't BB gunfire—it's the environment. Deep mud pits, low branches, rough terrain, and old barbed wire present physical dangers. Watch your step.
Harris Farm allows specific types of grenade devices depending on conditions:
Prohibited grenades: - Fuse-lit pyrotechnics - Anything with paint, vinegar, or food coloring - Devices that produce sparks excessively
Airsoft at Harris Farm operates on honesty. Players call their own hits—there's no safety-kill (bang-bang) rule. Getting shot by a BB is the immediate, decisive determination of a hit. The field culture values sportsmanship over technicality.
Key gameplay rules: - Friendly fire counts as a hit - Gun hits count as hits (you can't hide behind a rifle) - Semi-auto required within 10 feet of targets - No blind firing (shooting from behind cover without seeing targets) - No tackling, shoving, punching, or kicking other players - Minimum age: 12 years old to play
The field is shaped like a wide, flat diamond with clear boundaries: - Northern border: Gould Road and Buzzell Road (stay 100+ feet back; never aim across public roads) - Southern border: Open meadow used as shortcut to South Bridge (walking allowed; running prohibited) - Southwest border: Heavily wooded area marked with orange trail tape (crossing forbidden—private property beyond)
Environmental Hazards: - Ticks and Lyme disease (endemic in Maine; REPEL skin spray + 0.5% permethrin clothing treatment recommended) - Heat and dehydration (drink before you're thirsty; watch for headaches, dark urine, muscle cramps) - Rough terrain (boots lost in mud pits annually) - Potential old barbed wire
Two-way radios on FRS Channel 1 (462.5625 MHz) are optional but valuable for tactical coordination and emergency communication. PTT mode required (never VOX).
Harris Farm explicitly prohibits discrimination based on body type, citizenship, ethnicity, experience level, gender identity, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. Sexual harassment, bullying, and intimidation are forbidden (except within scripted game scenarios).
Airsoft is a game of honor. Honor is adherence to what is right and fair—it's your reputation and distinction within the community.
